5-day jungle trekking description
day 1
Your English-speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel in the morning, and together you’ll start an unforgettable 5-day ethical jungle trekking. You’ll cross a river and walk uphill for a while before reaching Jungle Point, where your guide will share his knowledge about animals and plants within the rainforest.
At noon, you’ll have lunch at a picturesque spot where you can dine on nasi goreng, a famous Indonesian national dish. After lunch, you head uphill to a fantastic view point where you can see the lush rainforest and the Bohorok River below. After a short break, you continue trekking upstream to look out for more wildlife and more species of plants and trees.
You might be lucky and catch sight of gibbons, Pigtail macaques, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks or hornbills!
After 4:00 pm you’ll arrive at a campsite near the river, where you’ll stay overnight. There you can swim in the river and relax with a cup of coffee or tea while your 5-star Michelin chef prepares dinner with local ingredients. The perfect ending to the day is experiencing the magical night in the middle of the jungle. You can play games around a campfire while listening to special sounds of nature and gazing at stars. Mattress, blankets, pillows are available in the one million-star jungle tent.
day 2
You awaken to the sounds of birds and monkeys. After breakfast, you are ready for trekking into the rainforest. As you venture deeper into the forest, your chances of seeing wildlife increase. Maybe you get lucky and see several species of monkeys living in the Sumatra Leuser National Park: the Sumatran orangutan, silver leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys and pig-tailed macaques. You may also see other rarer species of primates like slow lorises, siamangs and white-handed gibbons.
After lunch, your guides will prepare a tasty meal while you take a selfie. You’ll pass through scenic areas of the national park as you walk to the site.
At the campsite there is a jungle swimming pool with a waterfall where you can take a refreshing swim and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sumatra’s Leuser National Park. You will be treatet to another exotic Indonesian dinner. Enjoy the evening at your jungle camp by listening to jungle stories told by your guides and get a good rest so you’re ready for tomorrow’s adventure.
day 3
After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey up the river and into the jungle, where we’ll continue to explore wildlife and plants – including wild orchids.
When you arrive at the campsite, you can enjoy a swim in the jungle pool. Here you can also join our jungle team and learn to cook an Indonesia dish with your own five star jungle Michelin chef. (Let us know before the trekking starts if you would like to help cook on the third day.)
In the evening, play cards or sing around the campfire with your guides. Or maybe you want to go to sleep early so you’re ready for an exciting day tomorrow.
day 4
Waking up in the jungle, you’ll be inspired by nature’s sounds. Around the campsite, you might see Sumatran monitors, tortoises, and butterflies.
After breakfast, we’ll pack up and hike to a new campsite. You may be lucky enough to spot a deer, wild boar, elephant or one of the other animals that inhabit this rich ecosystem.
When you have enjoyed your dinner, you can sit around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the jungle at night. This is your last night in the jungle – enjoy it!

how can we help you?
Here are some of the most common questions we get from our customers. Hopefully, this will help you. Otherwise, don’t hesitate to contact us!
All of our trekking guides speak English… and a little orangutan language ; )
The items you will need most are cash money, good walking shoes/hiking boots, a flashlight/torch and mosquito repellent. There is possibility to change money in Bukit Lawang.
You might see orangutans on our jungle treks, but there is no guarantee! These animals live out in the wild, and it’s hard to know where they will be at any point of the day. But our jungle treks leave Bukit Lawang at 8:30 am and pass the old orangutan feeding area, so you have a good chance to see semi-wild orangutans up close.
Just bring your personal belongings in a small backpack and 1 large bottle of water. Our team will provide sleeping bags as well as safety jackets for tube rafting. There will be a porter to carry the equipment (tent, camping mats, mosquito nets) and food supplies.
You can either pay the full amount or pay a 30% deposit, and you can pay the rest of the fee when you arrive in Bukit Lawang. Send us an email and we will send you our account number to which you can transfer the money.
If you cancel at least:
Two weeks before the trekking date: We will refund your deposit minus any transaction fees.
One week before the trekking date: If you have paid the full amount, you will get a full refund minus 10% and transaction fees. If you only have paid the deposit, you will get half of your deposit back minus transaction fees.
Less than 24 hours before the trekking date: No refund will be provided.
We will use it to cover your treks and tours cancellations, as well as compensation for your guide.
