2 DAY JUNGLE TREKKING

3 DAY JUNGLE TREKKING

If you’re up for a jungle adventure, we offer this 3 day jungle trekking, that takes you deeper into the Gunung Leuser National Park, where you can enjoy its unique plants and animals. On this trek, you’ll spend two nights at different campsites in the jungle. Your trekking will end by tubing down the river in our “jungle taxi” back to your hotel. For this trip, you should be physically fit.

4 DAY JUNGLE TREKKING

Embark on a 4 day and 3 nights jungle trekking adventure. Explore the diversity of the rainforest and learn about medicinal plants. Every night you will experience a new campsite, and maybe taking in the sights and sounds of the jungle during an evening trek. Throughout your trip you will be treated to delicious homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners prepared by your guides. The last day concludes with a fun ride back to the city in our specially designed “Jungle Taxi”.

5 DAY JUNGLE TREKKING

If you’re looking for an adventurous nature-based vacation, consider a 5 day jungle trekking. Explore Gunung Leuser National Park, walk through rivers, swim in waterfalls, camp out every night—and you might even spot wild elephants or see a Sumatran tiger’s paw prints. general info about our orangutan tours

Your English speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you on an exciting orangutan tour adventure in Gunung Leuser National Park near Bukit Lawang. Your guide will prepare the food for the whole trip, so just bring along those items listed on the following page. The guide will explain about the jungle’s flora and fauna, and tell you all about the interesting animals you may encounter on your journey. You are sure to have a great experience! All jungle trekking tours end with river tubing (aka. jungle taxi), which takes you back to your hotel.

When you’re on this orangutan tour, remember that it’s important not to feed animals or throw plastic into the wild. Instead, put it in your backpack until you get back to the hotel. We have to take good care of out nature.

You can enjoy the exclusivity of a PRIVATE jungle trekking, tailored to your preferences.

In terms of scheduling, there are no set departure dates for this PRIVATE jungle trekking. We understand that every traveler’s schedule is unique, and we want to accommodate your readiness. 

The PRIVATE jungle trekking will start when you and your fellow participants are prepared to embark on this adventure.

Experience the exclusivity of a PRIVATE jungle trekking, with pricing calculated for minimum three participants, accommodating solo adventurers or couples.

Transport info

We provide a seamless airport transfer service to Bukit Lawang with our private car hire, available at 700.000 IDR. Upon your arrival, a designated driver will greet you at the gate, holding a sign with your name for easy identification. The travel time to Bukit Lawang typically ranges from 4 to 5 hours, allowing for stops to go to the toilet or buy water. For groups with simultaneous arrivals, we offer a cost efficient shared pickup option, splitting the costs among passengers.

Alternatively, we offer a tourist bus service. This 6-seater shared vehicle, managed by a trusted Bukit Lawang transport company, offers a communal travel experience. Please plan to arrive before 4 pm to utilize this service, as it operates strictly between 1 and 4 pm. The fare is 210.000 IDR per person. Note that there may be a wait if other passengers are delayed. This tourist bus service is another convenient travel option for your consideration.

When you purchase one of our orangutan tours, you are also supporting Gunung Leuser National Park by buying a ticket to enter the park. Tickets to enter this national park help fund the organisation’s efforts in preserving the endangered species living in the jungle and making sure that illegal logging does not take place.

Our trekking guides are certified by the Indonesia Tourist Guides Association (ITGA-HPI Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia). This means they have the training and experience needed to take you on a trek in the jungle and they know how best to treat the environment.

We only use local guides—guides who live in the community and whose families benefit from their work.

When you buy a trekking orangutan tour from us, 10% of the proceeds go to children in Bukit Lawang who can’t afford to go to school. These funds help them get an education and eventually find jobs that will enable them to support themselves and their families when they grow up.

Here are some of the most common questions we get from our customers. Hopefully, this will help you. Otherwise, don’t hesitate to contact us!

All of our trekking guides speak English… and a little orangutan language ; )

The items you will need most are cash money, good walking shoes/hiking boots, a flashlight/torch and mosquito repellent. There is possibility to change money in Bukit Lawang.

You might see orangutans on our jungle treks, but there is no guarantee! These animals live out in the wild, and it’s hard to know where they will be at any point of the day. But our jungle treks leave Bukit Lawang at 8:30 am and pass the old orangutan feeding area, so you have a good chance to see semi-wild orangutans up close.

Just bring your personal belongings in a small backpack and 1 large bottle of water. Our team will provide sleeping bags as well as safety jackets for tube rafting. There will be a porter to carry the equipment (tent, camping mats, mosquito nets) and food supplies.

You can either pay the full amount or pay a 30% deposit, and you can pay the rest of the fee when you arrive in Bukit Lawang. Send us an email and we will send you our account number to which you can transfer the money.

If you cancel at least:

Two weeks before the trekking date: We will refund your deposit minus any transaction fees.

One week before the trekking date: If you have paid the full amount, you will get a full refund minus 10% and transaction fees. If you only have paid the deposit, you will get half of your deposit back minus transaction fees.

We will use it to cover your treks and tours cancellations, as well as compensation for your guide.
